Weekly Update #121
Happy Saturday! Hope you had a great week.
We’re still in the middle of some bad weather, but thankfully it hasn’t been bad enough to stop me from working outdoors when I need to. I’m getting a lot of work done and things in the garden are slowly improving.
Big week for basketball. The Knicks advanced to the Eastern Conference Finals for the first time since 2000 and the WNBA started last night. Congrats to the Knicks and congrats to the W for an exciting start to their 29th season. The first game in the W was Minnesota vs Dallas featuring the number one pick Paige Bueckers. Dallas lost, but she played well and it was a fine debut. Like Caitlin Clark last year, Paige is coming off of almost no time off since the NCAA tournament and the draft.
The second game last night was the debut of the Golden State Valkyries, a new expansion team in the WNBA. I love their color scheme and logo, although it’s curious that they didn’t try to match the Warriors with blue and yellow. There are two more expansion teams coming next year and the year after: the Toronto Tempo come in 2025 and Portland in 2026. They still haven’t chose a name or logo or colors for Portland, although in the past they had a team called the Fire. Hopefully they’ll choose a different name considering how bad the wildfires have been here in the last five years.
F1 is also racing in Italy this weekend. I’m watching the qualifying as I write this. Yuki Tsunoda just had a terrible crash where the car rolled over, but it looks like he’s ok.
ALSO, it’s the Indy 500 this weekend. It starts at 9:45 pacific tomorrow (Sunday).
Oh yeah, my writing. It’s still going well. I finished the first edit and started the second. I’m going more slowly this edit, making sure to address every comment and note and changing anything I’m not happy with. I’ve completed around 40 pages so far. If all goes well, the end of this edit should be pretty close to the final product. As long as I don’t have to go through as many edits as last time I’m feeling good ;)
