Show Review: Murder at the End of the World
Minor spoilers ahead.
I finished watching the new Hulu original “Murder at the End of the World”. The name itself is kind of a misnomer because there are actually several murders (edit: somehow I thought it was called “A Murder” not just “Murder”, so I guess this is the abstract notion of murder), although maybe the title is supposed to be referring to the last one. Who knows. When I first saw the announcement for this show I was excited because I liked Brit Marling’s work on “The OA”. Unfortunately this show does not pop off nearly as hard, and instead of something daring and challenging ends of reverting to ham-fisted moralizing and never adds anything new to the “AI going haywire” plot. It’s not “Ex Machina”, and the sad part is that it could have been. Even until the very last moment I was expecting some twist that just never came. The whole show could have been saved! Even so, it was decent and the casting and acting were both very strong. Clive Owen and Emma Corrin both put on top tier performances.
