Weekly Update #105

1 minute read

Happy Saturday! The sun is shining but the ice is slippery!

No rejections this week. I’m never sure if that’s a good thing or a bad thing – either people don’t like it or they aren’t reading it!

I looked into Reese Witherspoon’s book club. I’d heard about it through the grapevine. She promotes a book every month in exchange for movie rights (or something). But unfortunately for me it’s only for women.

I started doing research for my next book. I spent 1-3 hours each day reading articles related to the topic. I think the general idea is good, but I don’t quite have the main plot and ending figured out yet. I’m going to keep working on it. I’m feeling energized and I like the idea a lot.

This week I finished reading “The Set-Up” by Joseph March. It’s an epic beat-style poem from 1928 about a black boxer who’s set up to help another boxer boost his record. Some of the language is a bit coarse (a real understatement) but it was an exhilirating ride through the dark alleys and seedy underworld of 1920s New York City. Highly recommended.

Big football weekend. Chefs vs the Bills in the AFC Championship game and the Commanders vs the Eagles in the NFC Championship game. Personally I’m hoping to see the Bills go through and finally win a Superbowl after so many failed attempts.
