Weekly Update #164
Happy Sunday!
By the time I’m writing this, the F1 race will be over, but I haven’t looked at the results yet. They’re racing in China this week and it’s looking like another Mercedes/Ferrari battle. Merc still has the definitive advantage, it seems, so I’m expecting them to come out one-two. Hopefully as the season continues other teams will match them and we’ll start to have some real battles.
The WNBA CBA negotiations are ongoing now. They’ve met for six days in a row now hoping to hash out a deal. So far the sticking point is the same as it’s always been: The players want revenue sharing based on gross revenue and the league wants it based on net revenue. Crucially, the league won’t allow independent auditing of its books to be included as part of a deal, so if the players accept sharing based on net revenue, the league will just claim losses every year and the players won’t be able to do squat about it. As usual, the league is its own worst enemy. This is literally the only time in the W’s history that anyone has cared about the W and now they are screwing it all up. Just unbelievable.
My writing went well this week. I found a nice rhythm and even though I didn’t meet my quota on one day, I made up for it the next day. Some days the words just don’t come and I get tired of fighting it, so I just pray the next day is better. I’m still enjoying working on this book a lot and I’ll be excited to share it whenever it’s finished. But who knows when that will be! I guess not until late summer or so. Realistically I still need about two or three months to finish the first draft and then I need to edit it which will probably take a couple of months. Five months puts it at August or September. Which is fine!
