Weekly Update #166
Happy Saturday! I’m actually remembering to do my weekly update this week so life is good and I hope you’re doing well too.
Yesterday was the expansion draft for the WNBA. There are two new teams this year, the Portland Fire and the Toronto Tempo. The Tempo won the coin toss to decide who drafts first and decided to defer to Portland in exchange for a better spot in the regular draft later this year. Portland picked Bridget Carleton from Minnesota as their first pick. I’m really happy about it and the rest of their picks. Their draft class headed by the woman who helped pick the Valkyries expansion draft class last year, which ended up being an amazing team that made it to the playoffs. Needless to say, I think we’re going to start off strong! Let’s go Portland!
The MNBA season is starting to wrap up. The big news this week was that Luka Doncic strained his hamstring which basically kills the Lakers’ chances to achieve anything in the post-season. There’s no way LeBron or Austin can make up the difference here so they’re cooked. They are likely to face Minnesota in the first round who gentlemen-swept them just last year.
My writing is still going well. I’m currently at 98k words. Some impactful events in the story are happening which will segue into the final events of the story. I think it’ll still end up around 150k words, but I guess it could be slightly less. Anyway, the point is that we’re heading towards the climax and the conclusion. I mean, I guess we always were, but I can see the light!
Also wanted to express how sorry I am for all my former coworkers at Oracle who got laid off. Something like 30k people got laid off to free up cash flow for their 60b AI debts. Absolutely stupid beyond belief. Hope everyone was luckier than I was and finds a position right away.
