Weekly Update #70

1 minute read

Happy Saturday! Hope things are going well for you wherever you are!

Big F1 weekend with the racing taking place in Monaco. Red Bull is finally cracking it seems, with nothing going well at all for either driver so far. Even Max’s driving couldn’t lift the car out of its rut, leaving the hometown hero Charles LeClerc to take the pole position, followed by McLaren, Carlos and McLaren. Very exciting to see some new faces at the top.

Well, I’ve started on my journey to find an agent for my book. So far I’ve contacted three agents and been rejected by two. I’m pretty new to this whole experience so I’m still learning about what I need to do to convince somebody that it’s worth representing. The rejections were not that surprising, I guess, and the turnaround has been quick which is nice. It would feel pretty bad to go for six months without hearing anything and then getting rejected! I spent quite a bit of time reading the agent bios and for the most part people are wanting to represent YA/Middlegrade fantasy, romance and mystery/thriller. Those are all of the top three most-selling genres. The book after next I might try mystery/thriller to see if I can improve my odds.

After dragging a bit this week and last, I’ve finally started on my next book, which is Part 2. After spending the last five weeks editing it’s taking me a little bit of effort to find my rhythm again, but I’m sure it will all work out.
