Weekly Update #79
Happy Saturday and happy first day of the Olympics! I don’t know if you caught opening ceremony yesterday, but boy was it something. Parkour, heavy metal, beheaded queens… wow! It ended with an emotional performance by Celine Dion. She nailed it! It was really one for the ages. After all the health issues she’s been through, I had no idea what to expect, but she surpassed all expectations and then some!
Today is Day 1 then. I just turned on the TV and there must be 50 events going on right now. I’m already overwhelmed!
Anyway. It’s also F1 this weekened. They’re in Belgium and it’s raining! Just starting the qualifying session now so I don’t know who is where, but in the practice sessions McLaren was leading. Max replaced his engine, so he has a big grid penalty. Right now he’s (only) 89 points ahead in the driver’s championship, so it’s starting to feel like Lando has a chance to catch up.
I didn’t hear back from any agents yet, so it’s still just a waiting game. I sent out a few more queries. Not very hopeful about some of these older ones, but there’s nothing I can do about it except hope! I’m still holding to my deadline though. If they haven’t gotten back to me by the time I finish the 2nd book, then it’s too late!
Speaking of which, I’m at 55k words in the 2nd book. If the first book is any indication, then I’m at or just slightly over half way! Somehow it doesn’t feel like I’ve worked on it that much, but the numbers don’t lie! Time is winding down, agents! Get on board ASAP.
