Weekly Update #101

1 minute read

Happy Saturday and happy last blog post of 2024! Another year has come and gone. As far as my writing goes, it was a great year and I can’t complain. Even though my career hasn’t taken off, I succeeded in maintaining my discipline and completing the books I always wanted to write. And the next one will be out soon!

The question that remains is: what comes next? Honestly, I have no idea! I’ll have to find new work so that I can eat, but what work is even out there? AI is eating everything right now, so I guess I’ll take whatever I can get. Someone throw me a life raft!

As I said last week, I still feel a desire to keep writing, even if editing for my current book has been a real slog and I’m starting to get close to burn out. I’ll be glad to finish so that I can take a break. Hopefully I’ll finish next week or the week after, so I’ll have a month off until the book releases where I can recharge and figure out where to go next.

My editing did go pretty well this week. (I think.) I’m not planning on doing another read-through, so I’m just working through my list of notes and touching things up here and there. Hopefully it’s all worth it! At the very least, it’s been a good learning experience. In the future I’ll probably keep to simpler plots that are easier to manage mentally. When there are a lot of interweaving threads, one small detail can set off a chain reaction! But if I hadn’t tried, I wouldn’t have really understood it, and I’m happy with the overall result. That’s the important part!

Have a good week and happy new year!
