Happy Saturday! It’s a bit chilly here but thankfully we’ve avoided the enormous cold wave hitting most of the country. Whew!

Still no word on the WNBA negotiations, although the two sides are going to meet face-to-face soon. Hopefully something gets worked out. Apparently the sticking point is that the league wants to pay players based on net revenue and the players want to be paid by gross revenue. My understanding is that the NBA dumps its losses on the W, ensuring it’s always in the red, so net revenue is probably zero or negative.

I had a good week of writing. The words flowed easily and I made quite a bit of progress. So far I’m at 45k words and the story is pretty good I think. It’s a work of historical fiction so I did a bit of research as well, hoping to make it feel more authentic. Probably it won’t be 100% accurate but that’s ok. The setting is only a vehicle for the message.

I read some nice books recently. “Fishflies” by Jeff Lemire and “The Wizard of Earthsea” (graphic novel) illustrated by Fred Fordham. Both really great, highly recommended.
